Located 45 minutes north of Perth, The Maze is a 32 acre park offering a unique range of games and activities guaranteed to challenge your students’ problem solving ability and develop their team building skills. Current attractions include: 6 mazes, 9 holes of mini golf, 9 holes of disc golf, koalas, kangaroos, emus, native birds, parkland and picnic areas.

These activities will help develop your students’: motor skills, hand-eye coordination, team building skills, mathematic and problem solving ability, but most importantly it’s a great fun day out!

Activities

The Maze is suitable for all ages and we welcome students from years 1 to 12.  Whilst at the park, your students can engage in the following activities:

  • The Maze: originally built in the early 80’s the main maze is constructed from timber and spread over 2500m2, making it Perth’s largest maze! Recent renovations have included the addition of a lookout tower and Supa-Slide, as well as reconfigured entry and exit points.

  • The Pine Tree Mazes: navigate your way through the Pine Mazes, two deceivingly simple looking mazes set amongst a pine tree grove.

  • Tayla’s Tangle: constructed from 75 metres of colourful rope, intertwined between posts to form a tangled web. Students who wish to take up the challenge are attached to the maze with a purpose built band and charged with task of navigating through the twists and turns of the knotted web, to reach the end of their rope in the fastest time possible.

  • Danae's Dilemma: an exercise of logic! Students are given the task of navigating their way through the maze without turning left or making u-turns.

  • Phil's Frustration: the reverse of Danae’s Dilemma, students must navigate their way through the maze making no right hand turns or u-turns.

  • The Tractor Tyre Maze: This one is the hardest yet. See if you can weave your way over the tyres to get to the middle.
  • Disc Golf: be one of the first in WA to try Disc Golf! Similar to traditional golf, however players use a disc (Frisbee) instead of a ball and club. The disc is thrown from a tee area to a target which is the “hole” (an elevated basket). The object of the game is to complete each hole in the least number of throws.

  • Mini Golf: play 9 holes of traditional miniature golf. Each track is individually shaped presenting 9 unique challenges for your students!

  • Garden Chess: played outdoors on a massive 3.6m x 3.6m chess board, the ultimate game of strategy is brought to life with each chess piece standing 2 feet high.

  • Koalas, Kangaroos, Emus and native birds: come and meet our resident koalas Clancy, Olivia,Willow, Newton, Mazie and babies Cisco and Cocoa.  Clancy is an adventurous five year old who loves to get out and about!  His friends are much quieter and their favorite activities include sleeping and munching on Coastal Moort Eucalyptus leaves. Say hello to our friendly kangaroos, emus and birds (for the health of the animals patting and feeding of the animals is not allowed).

  • Walk in Aviary: get up and close to some of Australia’s quirkiest cockatoos! See Major Mitchell’s, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and Pink and Grey Galahs.
  • Open lawn area: the park has a number of open lawn areas which are suitable for class games and activities. Teachers are welcome to bring along sporting equipment, however we do ask that before setting up your games, you check with park staff as to the best area to use.

Facilities

  • Free Gas BBQs and Picnic Area: bring along a picnic or use one of the many gas BBQ’s available in the grounds. Our huge trees provide plenty of shade for the perfect picnic setting.
  • Café Iguana: located onsite, Café Iguana offers a selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, wraps, hamburgers, pies, hot chips, coffee, cake, ice creams and cold drinks. A range of catering options is available for classes who do not wish to bring their own lunches (bookings essential).
  • Picnic Huts & Pavilion: under cover areas are available for classes to use as a central meeting point, an outdoor classroom and a place for students to eat their lunches. Teachers wishing to use one of these areas must reserve it when booking their class excursion (see booking form).
